The French brand Circle has created a revolutionary running shoe that offers a sustainable solution to a growing environmental problem in the running world.
This eco-friendly innovation is a step forward for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly industry.
The running shoe industry is one of the most polluting in the world.
The production of sneakers requires the use of huge quantities of synthetic materials derived from petroleum, such as plastics, rubbers and adhesives.
Their production is often centralized in low-labor cost countries, which involves long-distance transportation and their related greenhouse gas emissions.
Finally, most running shoes are not recyclable, they usually end up in landfills and take decades to decompose.
The French brand Circle wanted to revolutionize the sports industry by creating a biodegradable and recyclable running shoe. This eco-friendly innovation offers a sustainable solution to an increasingly urgent problem in the running world: waste production.
The SuperNatural Runner is the first fully eco-designed running shoe in Europe. The development, production and assembly of the different parts have been done in Italy, France, Germany and Portugal, reducing by 75% the CO2 emissions compared to a traditional running shoe.
The upper (the upper part of the shoe) is biodegradable and compostable. It is made of natural materials: 65% merino wool and 35% wood fiber, very resistant and light.
The midsole is also made from sustainable and vegetable materials, thanks to the use of castor oil.
The outsole is made of a natural biodegradable rubber. This part of the shoe can thus be entirely recycled, while retaining its technical properties.
The idea of the French brand is to generate no waste at the end of the product's life!
The brand has limited the availability of the SuperNatural Runner by offering it only as a pre-order, at a price of 150€, to limit overproduction and unnecessary inventory that would have a negative impact on the environment.
